Tropical Storm Fay has once again brought to our attention the need for all ready for wet weather conditions, with gusts of adequate rain gear, including windproof umbrella. The fact is that the hurricane season lasts until Nov. 30 and inclement weather can strike at any time. Long before a storm is time to reach you and your family ready. Essential items should have on hand in the car from both home and include radio, water, nonperishable food, a first aid kit, flashlight, extra batteries, and a blanket. Once severe weather begins, it is always smart to stay home. However, if you're outside, there are ways to protect yourself. Meteorologists are now able to detect storms, hurricanes, tornadoes and other weather conditions with high accuracy using the Doppler radar and warnings of report that can save lives.
