What is the loft of a pitching wedge and sandwedge?

A sand wedge 56 degrees of loft common will, sometimes 58, but 56 is enough standard. A loft PW probably range from 48 to 52 degrees, depending on how "modern" are lofts. If you have an old PW, it could be 52 degrees, Otherwise, I would bet that in 48 or less. Why this difference? Recently, the manufacturers in their quest for clubs "Longer" strengthen the lofts. Considering that the minivan which was 52 (or maybe 50, depending), which now tend to about 48. And the same for all other clubs in a series - Stronger, are lofts. The net effect is to leave a large gap between the PW and SW. From above, may be 8 degrees, which means that between the distances require you to hit a PW partial, something that many find difficult to do consistently. To arrive To this end, manufacturers have bridged the gap between the PW and SW, producing what is called the "Gap" cast - and you have a A or G in them (which means an approach wedge, which means G Gap wedge). Guess what loft is this? Answer: As the old VP! Manufacturers crazy! Let them to be a problem, then sell something. Mike (club doctor).
