I think that before you need to know anything else, it is necessary to determine eligibility and academics is the key.
So here goes:
NCAA Initial Eligibility Clearinghouse
All high school athletes wishing to compete in college must register with the Initial Eligibility Center. Information Center is located in the Guide for College-Bound Student Athlete. The national office does not handle certificates initial eligibility from the NCAA. Please do not contact the Office for National NCAA with questions about the status of initial eligibility of an individual, including whether transcripts, student release forms, etc. have been received or the time off. The Center maintains and processes all the certificates of initial eligibility.
Initial Eligibility Information Center:
1. High GPA and Test Scores
A good academic record is more important than a record of good golf. Academic coaches are reluctant to select a player who might have trouble staying eligible to work hard and stay focused. Below are the links on the SAT, ACT and TOEFL Web site. All college bound high school students must take the SAT and ACT more than once because most students receive higher scores on their attempts to second and third. Start to take these tests during his second year, come the time of recruitment test results to include in your CV.
Just remember that if you can not stay eligible to play then the coaches do not want to hire you. In addition, you May be able to subsidize some scholarship golf scholarship and academic awards.
Keep those grades up and keep practicing go make some birdies!
