Paradise Point offers a perfect tropical holiday
Most Californians think they have to board a plane and fly 3,000 miles to visit Hawaii. In fact, all you have to do is jump in your car and head south on Interstate 5.
Well, not exactly the same, but Paradise San Diego Point Resort & Spa has removed all obstacles to re-create many of the charms of the islands. To begin with, is on an island. Then in the factor lush mature palm trees - groves of them - that make the 44-acre complex in many ways feel like CoCo Palms, the famous seaside resort on Kauai where Elvis Filmed Presley Blue Hawaii. Add some tiki torches, beaches, lagoons, gardens lush and lots of birds, turtles and other wildlife, and have Hawaii, California version.
Oh, did we mention that it is also right next to one of the most popular theme parks in California - SeaWorld? You're beginning to see the image. Paradise Point must be considered one of the best children of California resorts with its many recreational opportunities and special features. Located in Mission Bay, many of the bungalows of the resort have views overlooking the sea across the bay to the Pacific beach and the hills of La Jolla. Other bungalows are in various gaps and streams located throughout the resort. With numerous pools and beaches, recreational water is never far away, and families will enjoy - as we did - discovering all the nooks and crannies complex for bicycling through the property and adjacent waterfront park.
While the complex has tennis courts, croquet and other family activities, a unique feature is the 18-hole putting golf course. Much like a miniature golf course, green is weaves through the resort's tropical gardens and easy for all ages to enjoy. Surrounded by lush tropical vegetation, it is easy for even non-golfers to pretend that they are teeing up on one of famous golf courses in Hawaii.
With so many family fun activities, it is not surprising that Paradise was point selected by the television complex Jon and Kate plus eight when he brought the family to San Diego area. This, of course, was a major selling point for our daughter nine years old he could not wait to vacation in the place that Jon and Kate.
Our one-bedroom bungalow was on a beach in the form horseshoe with a pile of sand and calm waters for swimming. Outside, there were chairs to sit and enjoy a view and a grassy area to play. Inside, The bungalows, completely furnished and had two easy style chairs, coffee table and sofa bed and a dining room located in the main open area of the unit. Next was a bar with a refrigerator. The bedroom featured a bed with decorative headboard and modern bedroom furniture. A bathroom / shower was flanked on both sides by vanities. Throughout the bungalows, the hot designer colors and decorative touches special unit to look and feel like I had just been updated - which had as part of a major renovation just completed.
This is a resort where you keep finding new things that catch your interest and enjoy the grounds winding and find things like Spa Terre, where even children are the customers value. Mom and daughter can get a massage side by side, or are there things like pedicures and manicures cold finger painting for children. Or try Teen Facial Cleansing. But beware - these children get addicted to spas and future bills will never be complex the same.
At lunch, we recommend the Barefoot Bar and Grill with views of San Diego is the best beachfront and a lot that the Hawaiian-style garden that will transport you to another world. Kids like to see sharks and other fish in the lagoon of the bar, while the outdoor patio will make you gaze alternating between the boats and the beautiful that people sitting next to you. The Barefoot food is first class with burgers, hot sandwiches and salads to main fare.
We also had the opportunity to dine at the resort BALEENsandiego, an elegant restaurant with an impressive array of dishes. Known for its seafood and incredible views, also find it does very well with grilled meats and desserts to die fire. The chef here, obviously, put in the effort to make this one of the best restaurants San Diego and both with beards and the Barefoot Bar are accessible not only to the inhabitants of Paradise Point, but also for visitors staying in San Diego other properties. In any restaurant would be an excellent choice for a special meal.
Mission Bay is ideally located and close to attractions including SeaWorld, the coastline of San Diego, Old Town and La Jolla.
