What is the best set of golf clubs for a beginner - or Mastergrip MacGregor?

I am a beginner and have access to two hand-me-down irons sets: 1 is a MacGregor Jack Nicklaus CG 1800 (steel bar), established on 2 Gold is a set of Mastergrip graphite (graphite shafts, of course).
