How to keep your golf game in shape in winter
In winter you can be a challenge to keep your golf game ticking over. Many of us single package of the clubs away in the garage and wait until spring to get out. Then we met a month or so very rusty golf until we start to click and enter the golf groove again.
Some players luck. They live in temperate climates where they and can play comfortably throughout the winter. Without But a large percentage of us live in areas where climatic conditions are against us. Rain, ice or snow can make it very uncomfortable to play or even near the course. In very cold climates, it is not uncommon for driving to close ranks as well.
What are your options to keep practicing or play?
First, there is an ever growing number of indoor golf. Most of these simulators are now using aided by great leap in computing power that is already available. The simulators are excellent, whether to play against Real (virtual) courses, or training ranges virtual golf. However, indoor facilities are still relatively few and far between.
If you do not have access to an indoor golf center, then the must at least try to find a covered driving range. That way you can keep practicing your swing and keeping dry, but not always that hot!
Always playing outdoors in winter (in progress or in the range) always remember to warm up properly.
In winter take much longer to warm up. Be sure to warm up your muscles can work effectively. Remember, never stretch a cold muscle - leading to injury. Warm up with light calisthenics, and then do some gentle stretching exercises to get muscles gently prepared. Start your practice session with short shots, working up to larger more powerful swings. The last thing I want to do is to exaggerate and put out of action!
If you can get at the beginning of the trail, do not miss the good warm up, then take it easy out there! Take an extra club and play easy. Winter is not always the best time to press by lower scores. You have extra clothes on restricting your swing. The course is wet or cold. The ball does not fly or roll as much as in summer. So make adjustments reasonable conditions.
What if the conditions are so bad that the courses and ranges are closed and you can not go outside at all? Well in this situation there are three things you can do to prevent any part of your game in shape:
1. Work on your strength and flexibility.
If you is a member of a gym, ask the instructors to give personalized training aimed at improving their flexibility. Work on basic muscle strength of major muscle groups. Strength and flexibility are the energy generating facility. Witness Tiger!
2. Enjoy imaginary golf swing.
It may sound silly, but thanks to the smooth swing movement on a regular basis can help maintain "muscle" memory. Keeping your golf swing work not to "suffer" for the first time out. No quick swing, swing "form." Make it look good. Imagine you are in the course, visualize the shot, and try to make a perfect swing. It's amazing how much this can help.
3. Work on your putting.
Yes, you get his putter and putt up and down the carpet! This is part of the game that you really can do at home to root technique. Putt to a cup of your hand. Try 'hole' without turning the ball cup. It gives you great touch and teaches you to see and putt along a straight line.
Whatever the conditions, the time makes you, just keep ticking over during the winter. It gives you a great advantage at the start of the season right on the bags for the winter.
