Club Wedge

What are the benefits of increased grooves in a golf club (corner)?
I have a pitching wedge Ram garbage that spans used later and a sand wedge I use 55degree Wilson. I would put the slots in the pitching wedge, but goes further into the trees on the corner of sand? Sine I use a pitching wedge 60 degrees have tried to work back 55degree in my bag, but just not getting it done for me, so I thought instead of buying a new club, I want to play the slots. What is the effect this would have on my club? Could you give me more loft, the more you feel? Or is it a waste of time?
No benefits in any deep grooves ...... Its sharp edges of the slot to spin a ball .... not the tread depth. My corners are replaced on an annual basis. I play every day.
