What happened to my mop of large flowers on my Nikko Blue Hydrangea?
I have a few Nikko blue hydrangeas around 4 or 5 years and every year I have big beautiful flowers. This year, however, have a bouquet of blue flowers, but they are very small, almost like lacecap variety. Does anyone can tell me what happened and what I can do to give back to my great flowers next year. Furthermore, one of the bushes on one side is dead. There are only sticks (as I did not break) and no new growth at all.
I bet you had a late frost stunted and the flowers form. Do not prune after July. The other half died, leaving new shoots in spring GRND next - do not worry.
